What is yoga therapeutics?
First, we must distinguish the difference between therapy and therapeutics. Therapy implies there is something wrong which requires fixing. We visit a massage therapist to alleviate physical discomfort or pain. There is a sense of passivity on the part of the client. The therapist treats us.

Therapeutics is an ongoing practice. A misalignment certainly may be treated, but the student (not client) fully participates in the process. There is a premise that our normal state is that of wholeness. The movement prescription brings the student back to this place.

One of my favourite teachers, Nischala Joy-Devi says, "We experience dis-ease because we have, on some level, forgotten who we are." Yoga is a practice of remembrance.

Through meaningful assessment using accessible yoga postures as tools, a strategy toward  optimal, sustainable postural and movement patterns is constructed.

Yoga therapeutics works when you, the student engages with present attention to breath, the discipline to practice, and a willingness to say 'YES' from the heart. I support your practice with a foundation of sound knowledge, a dedication to serve, compassion, and simple, concise instruction, and of course, a sense of fun.
